So, you’re just out of school – and you’re off to college.
A transition that most girls love because they’ll officially begin their experimentation with makeup, dresses and Sarees.
Before you hit the mall and splurge at cosmetic counters, we thought we might make it a tad bit easier for you, by listing all the essentials that you must have in your college make up bag!
- FOR THE SKIN
Most of girls skip this part or take it for granted – but invest in a good sunscreen!
We live in a country with extreme weather conditions, so make sure you have a good quality sunscreen with you all the time, preferably with SPF 20 or higher.
If you have oily skin, be careful with the sunscreen you select – study the packaging for an oil-free matte formula, so that you avoid the risk of an acne break out.
For those girls with dry skin, get a good moisturiser to go with it.
- FOR THE FACE
College girls, especially the ones just starting out, are blessed with youthful, fresh skin.
The idea is to keep that skin, that young glow intact.
No amount of makeup will match the charm of innocent, soft skin.
While the Lady at The Counter will lure you to buy concealer, primer, Foundation and what not, we strongly suggest that you just stick to a tinted moisturiser or a BB cream.
However, if you do suffer from Acne breakouts or blemishes you would like to cover, invest in a good light weight foundation, that’s designed for everyday use.
- FOR THE EYES
Every Indian girl will swear by the Kajal, and some won’t even step out of their house without lined eyes.
Purchase a long lasting waterproof formula when it comes to your kajal and eyeliner, so that you don’t end up looking like a possessed spirit, when you sweat or at the end of a long sultry day.
College also means a lot of cultural, a few Industrial visits and partying with your friends. So indulge in a good Eye Shadow palette for such occasions.
To make it easy on your wallet - consider this hack:
Instead of getting several quadrats with different colour combos, invest in one solid palette that has 12 colours or more.
And let’s not forget every girl’s best friend – the mascara!
- FOR THE LIPS
For everyday use, a tinted lip balm is advisable, because it keeps your lips moisturised, protects it from the sun, and also adds a tint of colour.
However, every girl must have at least four standard shades of lipstick in her bag – a neutral nude shade, a pink or coral, a mauve and a red - for special occasions or just a day out with friends.
- FOR THE NAILS
You don’t need an expensive mani-ped at the spa, just invest a few hundred bucks and buy the right products – you can give yourself a DIY manicure and pedicure.
If there’s one item of cosmetics that you can afford to splurge while you fill your make up bag, it is bottles and bottles of nail polish.
You can find some in the tiny retail outlets for as low as 15 bucks, and just stock up all the colors you like.
